Biathlon: the end of the Boe brothers
Norway’s Tarjei Boe and Johannes Thingnes Boe have been retired since Sunday 23 March. On that day, in the madness of the Oslo-Holmenkollen stadium (Norway), the most famous brothers on the biathlon planet competed in the last race of their immense career, a mass-start.
In the aftermath, an intense and moving tribute took place, with the two champions decked out in a cape in the colours of the national flag and wearing shiny gold crowns.

On Tuesday evening, almost two months later, Tarjei and Johannes Thingnes Boe were back in the Norwegian Biathlon Association (NSF) environment for the last time at a farewell dinner organised as part of the national team’s Oslo training camp.
“It was a good time!”
As Emilie Nordskar, head of communications at the NSF, told Nordic Magazine, it was at the Carls restaurant in the centre of the kingdom’s capital that this meal, attended by around fifty guests including members of the national teams, staff and sponsors, took place.
“It started at 6.30pm and lasted about 4 hours, she reveals. There were several highlights: the presentation of the teams, short interviews with the biathletes and coaches, the dinner, of course, but also a speech by Morten Djupvik [head of the Norwegian biathlon, editor’s note] to the Boe brothers and then another by them. It was a great time!”

Above all, as it was the last of the last, it was an emotional evening. “It was certainly special for the Boe brothers and the whole team, concludes Emilie Nordskar, who hosted the evening on stage. In fact, I think they had the most emotional moment since Holmenkollen.”
