Biathlon: foreign media impressed by French women’s relay performance
Lou Jeanmonnot, Océane Michelon, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet and Julia Simon were alone in the world on Saturday in the women’s relay at the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). Winners for the first time this winter in this format, the French managed to retain the title they won last season in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic).

Crossing the line with a margin of more than a minute over the Norwegians Karoline Knotten, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, Ragnhild Femsteinevik and Maren Kirkeeide, the Tricolores reigned under the sun of the canton of Grisons. It was a performance that drew rave reviews from the foreign press.

“France crushes the women’s relay in Lenzerheide”, read the headline in Fondo Italia. France quickly took the lead thanks to a sensational performance from Lou Jeanmonnot,” they continued. Their lead was never threatened. The battle for the podium was fought with a significant gap to the front.
The Swedish journalists from SVT Sport were in similar vein: “The great Julia Simon put on a great show during the final lap of the day’s relay, where she fired on all cylinders when standing up,” they wrote.

The Norwegians were equally impressive, as they had been since the start of the Swiss fortnight. France won a superb gold medal,” they told NRK. This team showed itself to be far superior by crushing all the competition.

“A sovereign French team”, said the Swiss journalists from RTS. ” France won gold in the women’s relay after a very dominant performance”, noted our Finnish colleagues fromIltalehti.
