Biathlon: the Claude brothers runners-up in the world relay in Lenzerheide
On Saturday afternoon, during the men’s relay at the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), Emilien Claude made his first career start in the competition. A replacement in the French squad after a convincing January in which he claimed his first World Cup podium, the Vosges native had also shown what he was capable of in a relay.
So, while Emilien Jacquelin did not show all the guarantees expected on the Lenzerheide site, the French staff did not hesitate to call on him for the Worlds relay. Thrower of the day, Emilien Claude did a good job with two disbursed picks in the recumbent and none in the standing.
“It really was a dream today [Saturday], he said afterwards on La Chaîne L’Equipe. Honestly, I didn’t expect to climb the steps so quickly this year. I’m happy with the job that’s been done.”
Handing over the baton to his big brother Fabien Claude, who admitted to feeling “chills” as the baton was passed,he then had to wait for his team-mates to finish their races.

In the end, a silver medal awaited Les Bleus. A family podium that delighted the youngest of the siblings. “It’s something we’ve always wanted to do, he said. We’re really happy. It’s a medal for the family and also for the team.”
