Biathlon : the French impressed foreign journalists
Fabien Claude, Quentin Fillon-Maillet, Eric Perrot and Emilien Jacquelin won the first men’s relay of the 2024/2025 Biathlon World Cup in Kontiolahti (Finland) on Sunday, marking a major achievement in the first races of the winter season.

With only two shots fromEmilien Jacquelin‘s standing shot, the French put an end to the Norwegian hegemony that had lasted for twelve races in this competition format. It was a real demonstration of strength both behind the rifle and on skis, which did not fail to attract the attention of the foreign press.
They’ve struggled in recent seasons, but now they’re the best team in the world,” says Marius Skjelbæk, consultant for TV2. “It’s impressive. With such a strong team, we still took a beating on the track,” said legend Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, an expert for the same channel.

Despite finishing second, Norway’s Sturla Holm Lægreid, Tarjei Boe, Endre Stroemsheim and Johannes Thingnes Boe were completely overshadowed by the performance of France’s Simon Fourcade and Jean-Pierre Amat.
“France is clearly well preparedOla Lunde speaks to NRK
“Norway will have a lot to think about over the next few days. France are clearly well prepared,” says NRK‘s Ola Lunde. It won’t be easy to beat the French riders all winter long. ” France were in a class of their own”, write the journalists from SVT Sport.

A perfect performance that left no one speechless, and above all enabled the French team to win its first relay title since 23 January 2021 in Antholz (Italy): “A superb France wins the relay”, read the headline in Fondo Italia.
