Biathlon: the French technicians will have a new truck in a few months’ time
Over the past few weeks, the French team’s technicians have impressed the biathlon world at the world championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). Outclassed in most of the events, the French skiers helped the French team to win thirteen medals, including six golds, from the twelve races contested.
“We’re going to see how we can consolidate their situation so that they want to stay with the French teams and so that their know-how doesn’t go to the competition,” explained Yann Cucherat, Director of High Performance at the French National Sports Agency (ANS) since September, in the columns of Le Parisien.

Work has also begun on the new waxing truck, which will be even better adapted to the Group’s needs than the one currently in use. It should be operational after the Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.
“The Agence nationale du sport helped to finance a lorry for cross-country skiing, and we’re doing the same for biathlon. It’s much more than a waxing lorry, it’s a real living space where the teams meet up before the events and where the technicians spend a lot of time testing”, says YannCucherat.
At the same time, the ANS high performance boss wants to secure certain staff positions, such as those of physical trainer Romain Hurtault and chef Boris Perelli. “The idea would be for them to accompany the group more regularly during the season, so that the teams can manage the competitions at their own pace,” says former gymnast Yann Cucherat.
