Biathlon: the best Czechs don their bibs in Letohrad
This weekend, in addition to those involving the Poles and Latvians, another national summer biathlon championship will take place: the Czech Republic biathlon championship in Letohrad. This small town in the Pardubice region has a tradition of organising this competition.
This year, the Czech Republic championships are being held over the weekend of St Vanceslas Day, the country’s bank holidays falling on 28 September. This day commemorates the patron saint of the Czech nation, a duke of the Premyslid dynasty and promoter of Christianity in Bohemia, who was assassinated by his brother Boleslav.

The event kicks off on Saturday with sprints scheduled from 9.30 am. Then at night, a mixed single relay will be held at 9pm (individual super sprint qualifications at 7.45pm, with the ten best women choosing their male counterparts for the final).
Finally, the 2025 Czech Summer Championships will come to a close on Sunday at 9.15am with pursuits. Although Marketa Davidova will be taking part, Jessica Jislova, Kristyna Otcovska and Petr Hak have withdrawn for the event, while Michal Krcmar is uncertain.
