Biathlon: green bibs make their appearance at the IBU Cup
On the biathlon planet, there are several distinctive bibs: yellow for the World Cup leader, red for the top World Cup discipline rankings, dark blue for the best U23 in the World Cup and gold for the reigning World Champion.
This week, a new jersey will make its appearance… in the IBU Cup. As Nordic Magazine reported over the summer, the Executive Committee of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) approved a change to the rules at its meeting in Anif (Austria) in June .

From now on, according to point 16.4.3. of the IBU competition rules, “competitors ranked first in the overall IBU Cup ranking must wear a coloured leader bib during the competition”.
Although the colour is not indicated in the text, Nordic Magazine has learned from Christian Winkler, the IBU’s director of communications, that it has been decided to give the overall leaders of the B circuit a green bib. The first of these will be worn in competition on Saturday, the day of the second sprints at theIBU Cup in Obertilliach (Austria), which opens this Thursday.
