Biathlon : Anna Gandler warmly supported in Le Grand-Bornand
In Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie), the French biathletes were cheered on like never before. The foreigners, too, are cheered on by a public in Haute-Savoie that is in no way chauvinistic. Other athletes have a special status in the hearts of the fans. As we saw on Thursday in the men’s sprint, this is particularly true of Johannes Thingnes Boe and Simon Eder.
This Friday, in the opening women’s race, it’s Anna Gandler who will be cheering on. She has been a couple for many years with Emilien Claude from the Vosges , and also speaks French well. All factors that bring the Austrian closer to the French public.

There are people cheering me on from the grandstand, and it’s a great honour for me to be more and more well known in France,” she told Nordic Magazine. There are a lot more people who know me here than there were two years ago.
“I love Le Grand-Bornand, it’s beautiful even when it rains”.
Anna Gandler also considers Le Grand-Bornand to be her second home after Hochfilzen (Austria). “On the sequence between Hochfilzen and Le Grand-Bornand, I really wanted to stay fit and healthy. If you miss that, it’s a shame! I love Le Grand-Bornand, it’s really beautiful even when it’s raining,” she says with a smile.

Despite this, the Austrian is approaching the final week of 2024 tired. I feel that my body is really tired,” she regrets. I’m still going to give it my all and maybe I’ll get a good result with a good shot. I know it’s going to be tough on cross-country skis.
