Biathlon: nine more individual races for Johannes Thingnes Boe
Last weekend, with back-to-back wins in the sprint and pursuit at the World Biathlon Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), Johannes Thingnes Boe made further history in his sport.
Now with twenty-two world titles to his name, including twelve in the individual category, the Norwegian is effectively alone at the top of the hall of fame of biathletes with the most world championship gold medals.
In the final weeks of his biathlon career, Johannes Thingnes Boe still has one last record to chase: the total number of career victories, including Olympic Games, World Championships and World Cup. With 95 successes, it is currently held by Ole Einar Bjoerndalen , but his compatriot has 90.

“It’s not far off the record… But how many races are left? Nine [two individual races at these Worlds and seven World Cup races in March, editor’s note]? There’s a small chance, but I don’t know, we’ll see,” he told RMC Sport.
Starting this Wednesday afternoon, in the individual race in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), Johannes Thingnes Boe will be looking to add another success to his incredible record of achievements. He would then be one victory away from the individual grand slam at the World Championships. It would be a first, and the Norwegian would be just three points behind Ole Einar Bjoerndalen.
