Biathlon: Heading to Switzerland for the French A and B Teams
After a so-called “recovery” week, the athletes of the French A and B biathlon teams are meeting this week for a new training camp as they enter the final stretch of their summer preparation.
After a training camp at altitude in Bessans (Savoie) in mid-August, the Blues participated, for members of the A team, in the Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival held in Annecy (Haute-Savoie) on August 31. This time, it is in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, that the French team is gathered for collective training.
An important part of their summer since it is in this very Roland Arena where they will conduct their sessions for two weeks that they will compete in the 2025 World Championships scheduled from February 12 to 23 next year. A training camp that promises to be demanding at a time when volume gives way to intensity.
“Winter is far away and at the same time just around the corner. Everything goes by very quickly. You can’t dawdle and must be ready to put on a race bib quickly,” Julia Simon explained to Nordic Magazine on the Pâquier in Annecy. “The workload will evolve and we will naturally ease into it. I love autumn because it’s the return of the high-intensity periods.”
The French team will conclude their training camp with the competitions of the first stage of the Summer Biathlon Tour scheduled for September 21 and 22 in Prémanon (Jura). After that, the team will head to Ramsau (Austria) for the ladies while the men will go to Prémanon.
