Biathlon: Nathanaël Peaquin just short of a medal at the World University Games
On Saturday morning, the biathlon programme at the Turin 2025 World University Games included a men’s sprint in Pragelato (Italy). In this event, Nathanaël Peaquin, a Frenchman, came close to winning a medal. After clocking the second fastest time on cross-country skis, he got off to a good start, shooting 5/5 in the recumbent.

However, he missed two shots on his feet and his hopes of a podium finish were dashed. Sixth when he left the shooting range, he climbed two places in the final loop, but had to settle for fourth place, 22.5 seconds from the winner. Kazakhstan’s Nikita Akimov (10/10) took the gold medal with a margin of 2 sec 2 over Sweden’s Knut Vikstroem (9/10) and 5 sec 6 over Ukraine’s Bohdan Borkovskyi (9/10).

Among the other French riders, Paul Fontaine (9/10) was seventh and Adrien Baylac (7/10) fourteenth.
