Biathlon: Julia Tannheimer on fire
Last week, German biathlete Julia Tannheimer put in some magnificent performances on the World Cup circuit in Kontiolahti (Finland). Sixth in the sprint (10/10) and then fifth in the mass start (19/20), her first at this level at just 19 years of age, the native of Ulm (Germany) made quite an impression.
All this after she had completely missed out on the opening individual short, finishing in fifty-seventh place (15/20). “After that race, I tested a different technique to hold my breath when I pull the trigger”, she revealed on the IBU website, to explain, in part, her performance.

A violinist in her spare time, Julia Tannheimer is the reigning world junior champion in the individual event and has already won once on the IBU Cup circuit. In short, she is a gifted German biathlon prodigy who is likely to be in the news (often) in the future.
