Biathlon: a few weeks after resigning in Germany, Uros Velepec signs for Poland
On Friday, the Polish Biathlon Federation announced the appointment of Slovenian Uros Velepec as head of its men’s senior national team. The announcement comes just a few weeks after his departure from Germany in the middle of the season due to a glaring lack of results.
“After I left Germany, I received a lot of offers, he explained at a press conference in Katowice (Poland), at the headquarters of PZBiath. I was surprised because I was thinking of taking a sabbatical year. I see [Poland’s] potential. It won’t be easy, it’s a long process, but we want to get out of the shadows and show that Poland can also compete [with the best].”
Uros Velepec is ambitious for his new squad, with his sights set on a top 10 finish in the Nations Cup in the years ahead.
