Biathlon: Eric Perrot and Martin Uldal, a special bond
When Eric Perrot’s family went to spend a year in Norway when the future star of French biathlon was in fifth form, he took part in a classic season of competitions in the kingdom. In his other country, that of his mother, he crossed swords with Martin Nevland… and Martin Uldal.
Winner of the world cup sprint in Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) on Thursday afternoon in the rain of the Aravis mountains, he impressed everyone. “He really crushed the race,” said Peiserot.

Asked about their relationship, Eric Perrot, seventh on the day, went on to explain : “My grandparents are friends of his! We’ve had more or less the same career trajectory, although he was stuck in the IBU Cup for longer because of the density of the Norwegian level. I think it was frustrating for him to see me win when he was in the IBU Cup, and today I’m the one who’s a bit frustrated, but that’s the game! I’m going to congratulate him because what he did today was magical. He’s a great opponent, a distant friend, and I love this kind of rivalry.”
In the pursuit scheduled for Saturday, the biathlete from Peisey-Vallandry (Savoie) will be out for revenge. Some forty seconds off the lead, he could well pull off a fine comeback.
