Biathlon: Oberhof in the snow
The issue of snow cover at the Oberhof stadium (Germany) regularly comes to the fore. This is the case almost every year, just a few days before the start of the Biathlon World Cup caravan. The site, which stands at an altitude of 827 metres, is the subject of much debate, and its continued existence could become problematic in the long term.
On Tuesday morning, however, the Arena am Rennsteig was completely snowed in. Further snow is expected to fall on the Thuringian facilities over the next few days.

However, this in no way means that natural snow will be present at Oberhof in 51 days’ time for the start of the World Cup.
Last January, over three days, no fewer than 53,000 fans flocked to this emblematic venue for world biathlon to witness the exploits of the world’s best athletes. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet won the sprint with the yellow bib on her back, while Julia Simon triumphed in the pursuit and the French women went on to win the relay on Sunday.
