Biathlon: no final medal for the French at the World University Games in Turin
On Wednesday lunchtime, the ninth and final biathlon event of the Turin 2025 World University Games took place in Pragelato (Italy). The women’s 12.5km mass-start closed the programme.
For this final bouquet, France’s Amélie Broutier (17/20), Noémie Remonnay (16/20) and Lisa Siberchicot (15/20) got off to an ideal start, scoring 5/5 on the prone run. Quick on their skis, they even led the race away from the rest of the pack in the second lap.

But then things got complicated. First, they each made a mistake on the second dismount, then the first stand-up allowed Savoyard Amélie Broutier, who was perfect, to take sole control of the mass-stat. As a result, the Team ENB member arrived at the last stand-up in a position to win the gold medal.

Unfortunately, she made two mistakes and opened a door into which Ukraine’s Daryna Chalyk (17/20), in the top 10 of an IBU Cup this season, stepped in to claim the title. For the other medals, the suspense remained intact as Oleksandra Merkushyna (18/20), Luise Mueller (18/20) and Noémie Remonnay were grouped together just a few metres from the finish.
After a fine comeback, the Doubiste couldn’t fight back and had to be content with fourth place. It was the Ukrainian who took silver, giving her country the double , while the German took bronze. Finally, Amélie Broutier was fifth and Lisa Siberchicot sixth.
