Cross-country skiing: Victoria Carl tops the bill
The cross-country skiing World Cup weekend in Les Rousses (Jura) gave the German team the chance to build up their confidence ahead of the races in the Engadine (Switzerland). Victoria Carl is the leader of the German team after finishing second in the 10km skate.

“The weekend was really great, because I finally finished on the podium in the individual skate. The classic mass-start was good. It was a very tough race. I took the sprint as very good training. I took into account the pressure of the competition. I went straight to the Engadine to adapt to the altitude. It wasn’t the right time to go home. Here, you can do some really good training, with great conditions and snow. I want to have a good weekend and improve tactically and technically,” said the German in a statement from the DSV.
A track that brings back fond memories for Lucas Boegl
On the men’s side, Lucas Boegl also performed well in Les Rousses, achieving his first top 20 of the winter in Sunday’s mass-start classic. He returns to a track that has been particularly good to him in 2021.

“I’m still highly motivated. It’s no different because I did a top 20 in Les Rousses. It’s always an honour to take part in a World Cup and you’re always highly motivated. Here in the Engadine, it’s very special for me, because I did the best time in the 50km skate four years ago. For me, it’s like winning the World Cup, even if it’s not official. I have very good memories of Silvaplana. I’m really happy. The conditions are incredible. The sky is blue, it’s sunny, it’s cold, it’s fantastic,” enthused the German.
Katharina Hennig absent
Katharina Hennig, fifth in the mass-start classic at Les Rousses (Jura), will be absent.

“I won’t be taking part in the World Cup in the Engadine. I’ve decided to go to Cogne, because there will be more classic races. I’m going to use the next two weeks to continue training, then the races in Cogne and Falun, to do some competitive kilometres, which I’m missing a bit today,” reveals the 28-year-old cross-country skier.
