Cross-country skiing: Joachim Weel Rosbo super-fourth in the Trondheim World Championships qualifying race
For the past two weeks, 28-year-old Dane Joachim Weel Rosbo has been in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) to compete in the World Biathlon Championships, his second after the 2023 event in Oberhof (Germany). After finishing 83rd in the sprint and 90th in the individual race, he headed to the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim (Norway) to take part in the cross-country qualifying race on Wednesday afternoon.
In this 7.5km individual classic, a style to which he is less accustomed than the skating used in biathlon, he shone , clocking the fourth fastest time in the race. In 21 min 26 sec 7, he finished 54 sec 5 behind the Chinese winner, Kuerbanjiang Wuerkaixi. Johacim Weel Rosbo thus qualifies for next Wednesday’s individual classic, which will be run alongside the world’s best 10km runners.

The Dane runs marathons and half-marathons in the summer. He was also a middle-distance athlete in the youth categories in Denmark. Jacob Weel Rosbo, his younger brother, was also on the start list, but was unable to get to the starting gate due to illness.
