Cross-country skiing: Sabin Coupat wins her first international title of the season
Winner ex aequo of the individual 10-kilometre classic at the FESA Cup cross-country skiing competition in Schlinig (Italy) on Saturday afternoon, Sabin Coupat got off to the best possible start to the international competitions for the 2024/2025 winter season. Already just off the podium the day before, this time the Frenchman got his revenge.

A second career victory on this circuit, also known as the Coupe des Alpes, did the Forézien a world of good, and he didn’t really know where he stood when he arrived at this first stage of the season. “On an individual event, I didn’t really know where I stood yet, he tells Nordic Magazine. I wasn’t in very good shape in November, so it’s good to see that I’m in good shape and that I’m doing well in this format, and what’s more, in a classic.”
“I’m quite happy with this performance, especially after Friday when I was frustrated to have finished fourth”Sabin Coupat at Nordic Magazine
In the game from the very first kilometres, it has to be said that the member of the French B team was also keen to climb up on the podium after being edged out by three Italians the day before: “I’m quite happy with this performance, especially after Friday when I was frustrated to have finished fourth. I’m pleased to be able to repeat the experience”, he enthuses.

Accompanied by five of his compatriots in the day’s top 10, Sabin Coupat was also able to take full advantage of this performance in the province of South Tyrol. “It’s great to see the team pulling together so well. It’s really cool that we’re all pulling each other up, he admits. We’ve got to keep going and get out in front.”

And from this Sunday, the 24-year-old cross-country skier will have the chance to double his tally in the 15-kilometre mass-start skate race, which closes this first FESA Cup weekend: “I can’t wait for the next races and I’m taking them one after the other,” he concludes.
