Cross-country skiing: Alvar Myhlback signs with the Lager 157 Ski Team
A year ago, Swedish cross-country skier Alvar Myhlback, considered to be the future big name in the sport in Sweden, joined his country’s junior national team . Since then, a winter has passed. During that season, the 19-year-old was not selected for the World Junior Championships after missing out on a qualifying competition for the Ski Classics.
After becoming the youngest winner in the history of the Vasaloppet, Alvar Myhlback decided this spring not to re-sign with the Swedish Ski Association and signed a 2-year contract with the Lager 157 Ski Team.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ve found what I like to do, which is to run long distances”, he reveals in the columns of SVT Sport.
The Olympics in the sights, but not as much as the Ski Classics
While this may not be the easiest choice for securing a place at the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan/Cortina, Alvar Myhlback, with eight World Cup starts to his name, is not giving up on the possibility altogether.
“I’m not closing any doors, but that’s not a goal either, he admits. The aim is to win the Vasaloppet, to take the yellow jersey [of the Ski Classics] or for someone else in the team to do it. After that, of course, if I’m selected for the Olympics, I’ll go, but that’s not a goal.”

It should be noted that the different groups of the Swedish national cross-country skiing team, without Alvar Myhlback and Calle Halfvarsson, will be unveiled midday on Monday 5 May.
