Cross-country skiing: Tania Kurek puts her skis away
Haute-Savoie cross-country skier Tania Kurek is calling it a day. Late on Tuesday afternoon, at the age of 23, the Pays Rochois athlete announced on her social networks her decision to end her sporting career.
“I’ll finish writing the end of the chapter that has lasted 14 years this weekend, she wrote on Instagram. It’s been so intense… Between victories and defeats, it’s thrilled me, but it’s also made me cry. I’ve met some incredible people and discovered some extraordinary places. It’s taken me to the four corners of the world to experience some extraordinary events.”
During her years as a cross-country skier, Tania Kurek took part in the European Youth Olympic Festival in 2019, the World Junior Championships in 2019 and 2021 and the World University Games in 2023. She was once part of the federal groups, but left a few seasons ago to try her luck with the Haute-Savoie Nordic Team and then the i3 Ski Team.
Unable to hang up her boots, the Montblanc native has decided to call it a day at the end of the 2024/2025 winter season. It’s at Les Saisies (Savoie), on Sunday during the French championships, that Tania Kurek will bid an emotional farewell to competition.
