Cross-country skiing: Ane Appelkvist Stenseth dominates
The first classic sprint of the winter season delivered its verdict on Friday afternoon. At the opening Norwegian cross-country skiing races in Beitostølen ( Norway), a large number of World Cup athletes clashed once again with just a week to go before the start of the hostilities.

Already untouchable earlier in the day in the prologue, Ane Appelkvist Stenseth then showed all her power to dominate the final stages. Impressive throughout the tournament, the Norwegian mastered her subject in the final lap to claim a fine victory in this first race of the 2024/2025 season.
Behind her, her compatriot Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs took second place just under a second behind, while Tiril Udnes Weng, winner of the Crystal Globe in 2022/2023, settled for third place after showing great determination throughout the competition.

On the French side, Léna Quintin reached the semi-finals after being drawn in her quarter-final. But the Bornand native was eliminated just short of the final. Twentieth in the morning qualifying round, Mélissa Gal saw her career come to an end at the quarter-final stage after finishing sixth in a pool that included Ane Appelkvist Stenseth, the day’s winner.
