Cross-country skiing : Heidi Weng responds to Therese Johaug
The opening Norwegian cross-country ski races in Beitostølen (Norway) came to a close in snowy conditions on Sunday, with the 10-kilometre individual skate race. Before the men’s competition scheduled for the very early afternoon, the women’s cross-country skiers got the ball rolling in wintry conditions.

And unlike the day before, when Therese Johaug gave a fine recital on her comeback, the day’s event saw a real battle between her and Heidi Weng, who was beaten by her compatriot on Saturday. And this time, the roles were reversed.
Combative right up to the final metres, Heidi Weng exacted a fine revenge to beat the multi-medalist world champion to the line by just six tenths. A tiny gap that kept the few fans who had braved the Scandinavian cold on their toes.

Astrid Oeyre Slind, who finished in the top 5 in the individual classic, is back on the podium. Ahead of Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs by just seven tenths, the 36-year-old cross-country skier was also present in these last races before the World Cup in Ruka (Finland).
Flora Dolci in contact with the best
The best French rider of the day was in eighth place. Setting a good pace as the kilometres went by, Flora Dolci managed to climb into the day’s top 10, just over a minute behind the winner. A fine performance for the Haut-Alpine rider, who had already been the strongest French rider the day before.

Behind her, Delphine Claudel had a more complicated race, finishing in twenty-third place just ahead of Julie Myhre. Juliette Ducordeau from Isère was not far behind in twenty-seventh place, while Léna Quintin from Haut-Savoie was forty-second.

The last Blue to take part in this competition, Maëlle Veyre settled for sixty-third place in the final, just behind the promising biathlete Maren Kirkeeide, who finished in fifty-second place.
