Cross-country skiing : a second victory before the World Cup for Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo
A few minutes after Therese Johaug‘s demonstration in the women’s individual classic, it was the turn of the cross-country skiers to take to the track in this second event of the Norwegian opening cross-country skiing races in Beitostølen (Norway).
Untouchable the day before in the sprint, Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo once again came up trumps in the day’s competition. Quick to pick up the pace, the Norwegian then put in his best performance to claim a second win in a row less than a week before the start of the World Cup on the slopes of Ruka (Finland).

Although he announced before the race that he would not be taking part in the individual skate race scheduled for Sunday, the five-time Olympic champion proved that he is in good form and that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the first winter races.

On the two steps of the podium behind the Scandinavian were his compatriots Martin Loewstroem Nyenget and the outgoing winner of the crystal globe Harald Oestberg Amundsen, less frustrated than on Friday after suffering a broken stick in the semi-final.
Hugo Lapalus tied with Emil Iversen
And while the surprising Andreas Fjorden Ree took fourth place, it was a Frenchman just behind him who rounded off the top five. At ease over the 10km course, Hugo Lapalus held on for a fine fifth place.

Le Cluse is not alone in this position, as it was Emil Iversen, back after two difficult years, who clocked the same time as Le Cluse, placing him equal fifth with Haut-Savoyard.
Richard Jouve also put in a fine performance in Innlandet. After being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the classic sprint, the Haut-Alpin found his rhythm this time to finish among the top fifteen cross-country skiers of the day. Twelfth on the line, the resident of the Méribel sports club (Savoie) got his bearings in the distance before the first world stages.

Behind him, sandwiched between Didrik Toenseth and Ireneu Esteve Altimiras, Mathis Desloges finished a very good twentieth. Cluse’s Théo Schely was twenty-sixth, Jules Lapierre thirty-fourth and Rémi Bourdin forty-first.
Finally, Bornandin’s Lucas Chanavat and Renaud Jay round off the French ranking in fifty-sixth and one hundred and seventeenth place.
