Cross-country skiing : Léonie Perry gets winter off to a good start
Having already won the opening sprint skate of the French Cross-Country Skiing Cup in Bessans (Savoie) on Wednesday morning after the cancellation of the finals, Léonie Perry did it again this Thursday in theindividual classic. Once again impressive on the Savoie slopes, the Vosges native couldn’t have wished for a better way to kick off her winter.
Setting the pace over the 10 kilometres, the French team cross-country skier never let her rivals catch up. In the lead as she crossed the line, the 20-year-old never relinquished her throne. Ahead of Julie Pierrel from Haut-Savoie by more than 12 seconds, she should, quite logically, secure her ticket for the first stage of the FESA Cup, which will take place in Schlinig (Italy) from 6 to 8 December.
After a difficult winter cut short by a number of illnesses, Léonie Besson is back in the spotlight. In excellent third place , just over 20 seconds behind the leader, the i3 Ski Team member was back on the podium at the best of times.
Behind the leading trio, Cloé Pagnier and Liv Coupat completed the top five, while Justine Gaillard, Clémence Didierlaurent, Heidi Convard, Laurie Flochon-Joly and Julie Marciniak finished in the top ten.
