Cross-country skiing: less than a month to go before the opening of France’s first snowfarm of the winter season
With October well under way, the countdown to the opening of the first French slopes of the winter season has begun. We already know that Bessans (Savoie), which has been the first to open its Nordic area for years thanks to snowfarming, will be making its first snow-covered loop available from Saturday 2 November.
The main reason for this is to enable the French biathlon and cross-country skiing teams to rediscover their sensations on snow. The women’s biathletes will be there from 7 to 18 November, as will the B groups, who will be there from 5 November, while the men and women cross-country skiers will be in Savoie from 2 to 12 November. It’s worth noting that the FFS biathlon selections will be held there, as they are every year. This will take place on 15, 16 and 18 November.

The resort of Les Saisies (Savoie) will also be opening a snowfarming piste ahead of the rest of its Nordic area, on 11 November.
- Three races in four days, two sprints and a mass-start: the programme and dates for the traditional FFS selections in Bessans.
- Vuokatti has (already) opened its snowfarming trail
- It’s the turn of Idre Fjäll and Kontiolahti to open snowfarming trails
