Cross-country skiing : Victor Lovera beats Clément Parisse by less than 4 seconds
The first stage of the 2024/2025 French Cross-Country Skiing Cup drew to a close on Thursday afternoon with the senior cross-country skiers competing in a classic 10-kilometre individual race on the slopes of Bessans ( Savoie). The final race lived up to all its promises.

Victory was decided by less than four seconds in Haute-Maurienne. And in this game, it was Victor Lovera who was the cleverest to win for the first time this winter. The Team Vercors Isère skier was on the pace and played his best part to beat the experienced Clément Parisse by a whisker.
Crossing the line with a margin of just three seconds and nine tenths over the Haut-Savoyard, the Chartrousin returned to the top of the rankings after a lacklustre winter despite a solid victory in the legendary Foulée Blanche in January.

Behind him, Clément Parisse, who was affected by mononucleosis last season, is also picking up the pace in his quest for a return to the World Cup in the near future. Gaspard Rousset , who dominated the skateboard sprint on the previous day, is still on the podium, just over 8 seconds behind the leader.

His friend Julien Arnaud was close behind him in fourth place, less than four seconds ahead of Victor Cullet-Calderini. Simon Vuillet, Sabin Coupat, Ivan Essonnier, Simon Chappaz and Arnaud Chautemps rounded off the day’s top 10.
