Cross-country skiing: Einar Hedegart’s achievement
On Friday morning, Norwegian biathlete Einar Hedegart, a year and a half after taking part in a World Cup in his favourite sport, discovered the world cross-country skiing circuit in Lillehammer (Norway). He impressed in an individual 10km skating race, finishing eighth.
In particular, he did better than all the French, as well as Paal Golberg, Didrik Toenseth, Andrew Musgrave, Iivo Niskanen, William Poromaa and Gus Schumacher. However, nothing was written in advance for the triple world junior biathlon medallist.
“I threw up a bit when I woke up, which had never happened to me before, he told TV2. I think I was more excited than usual! It’s one of those moments when you wish you hadn’t done ski racing, and then you wish you hadn’t… You feel bad and you throw up, it’s not a good feeling.”
Despite this, the Norwegian biathlete put in a majestic performance just over 40 seconds off the podium.
- Lillehammer: led by Martin Loewstroem Nyenget, the Norwegians scored a six-peat in the individual skateboard event, with Jules Lapierre in the top 20.
- Gålå: Helene Marie Fossesholm and biathlete Einar Hedegart win the individual skateboarding event in the Norwegian Cup
- Therese Johaug still with us, Kristine Stavaas Skistad and Anne Kjersti Kalvaa back, and sensations Ole Suhrke and Einar Hedegart: Norway’s squad for the Lillehammer World Cup
- Norway’s Einar Hedegart, a three-time world junior medallist and top-30 finisher in the biathlon World Cup, will be discovering the cross-country skiing World Cup in Lillehammer.
