On Sunday, the cross-country skiers lining up in the opening Swedish cross-country skiing races in Bruksvallarna (Sweden) competed for the last time in a 10-kilometre individual skate. And this time, it wasn’t a Swede who came out on top.

AfterEdvin Anger‘s two victoriesin the skate sprint and the individual classic, it was Olivier Léveillé who beat all his rivals in style on Sunday. The Canadian put in a fine performance to claim a benchmark victory ahead of the World Cup in Ruka (Finland), which starts on Friday.

Winning ahead of Truls Gisselman, who was already in this position the day before, by a margin of 10 seconds, the 23-year-old proved that he could well make a name for himself in this format this winter.

A regular in the Scandinavian Cup and FIS races, Johan Ekberg snatched third place from his compatriot Maans Skoglund. Rising star Alvar Myhlback completed the top 5, 12 seconds off the pace.
