It was the women cross-country skiers who brought the second day of competition to a close at the Swedish opening cross-country ski races in Bruksvallarna ( Sweden) with the10 kilometre individual classic. And the favourites held their ground.

Frida Karlsson, who was still in doubt a few days ago after suffering a foot injury in recent weeks, almost played a trick on Ebba Andersson. The Swedish rider, who was in the thick of things as the kilometres went by, ended up nearly 12 seconds behind her compatriot, who for her part has shown very positive initial signs with just one week to go to the world cup in Ruka (Finland).

On the third step of the podium was Jonna Sundling, a woman who thrives on distance. A big winner in the sprint on Friday, the 29-year-old cross-country skier once again impressed in the longer format, finishing ahead of Emma Ribom and the promising Maerta Rosenberg.
