Friday saw the opening of the Fjälltopphelgen cross-country skiing event in Bruksvallarna, in the west of Sweden, which runs throughout the weekend. Hostilities kicked off this afternoon with the 100-metre sprints.

Second in the qualifying round a few minutes earlier, Barbora Antosova confirmed her status as favourite in the final stages. At ease in this specific exercise, the Czech won solidly in the final ahead of Sweden’s Julia Blomgren. Another Scandinavian, Moa Lundgren, completed the day’s top 3.

In the men’s competition, victory also went to one of the favourites. Sprint specialist Marcus Grate didn’t hesitate to raise his arms in front of his Swedish compatriot Carl Gustafsson by a margin of just three tenths. Behind him, Viktor Norberg took third place.
