Very much out of the limelight since the start of the season, Calle Halfvarsson is still chasing his form on the cross-country skiing World Cup. After retiring from the skiathlon stage in Lillehammer (Norway) last Sunday, the Swede is not part of the Scandinavian squad that will travel to Davos (Switzerland) this weekend.
The 35-year-old cross-country skier has been undergoing tests in recent days to clarify the reasons for his injury. An MRI and scans revealed that one of his intervertebral discs had recently been damaged. ” Thanks to rehabilitation, Calle will be able to compete again in the near future,” says Rickard Noberius, the national team doctor, in a press release.
“I’m still aiming for the Tour de Ski, but my priority is to be ready for the world championships in Trondheim”, reminded Calle Halfvarsson, who is therefore leaving doubt as to whether he will miss the Tour de Ski scheduled for 28 December to 5 January. It should be noted that Maja Dahlqvist will also be added to the long list of Swedish absentees for the Swiss stage at the weekend, following a cold contracted in recent days.
