09:56. This Saturday, on the beach at Laigueglia, Italy, the Nordic athletes will not be sunbathing on the Italian sand. While most of them have been back in training for a few days to prepare for the 2025/2026 Olympic winter, some of them will be at the start of a cross-country skiing competition on the beach.
It’s a rather zany idea that brings together several teams from different regions of Italy, with the aim of raising money for charity , which will then be donated to the AIRC foundation, which is involved in cancer research. At the start, some well-known names from the international circuits will be taking part.
They include Davide Negroni, one of the stars of last winter’s FESA Cup, as well as Gaia Brunello, the Italian-Brazilian biathlete who caused a sensation at theIBU Cup, and Dominik Windisch, the 2019 mass-start world champion biathlete and now coach of the national junior team.
