12:37. A week after dominating the individual skate race at the Trondheim world cup, Sweden’s Ebba Andersson was like a bull in a china shop in the free mass-start of the Scandinavian cup. On Saturday 13 December in Östersund (Sweden), she lasted just 3 kilometres in the peloton.
Then she quickly took off, constantly increasing her lead : 17 seconds after 4 km, 54″ at the 8 km mark, 1 min 30 after 11 km, 2 min at the 15 km mark and finally 2 min 21 at the finish. It was a solo effort that looked like a high-intensity training session.

In her wake, Norway’s Eva Ingebrigtsen took second place, overtaking Sweden’s Maerta Rosenberg (+2 min 25) in the final hectometres.

The men’s race was much livelier, with a three-way battle between Norwegians. After 57 minutes 13 of effort, Didrik Toenseth dominated Haavard Moseby (+3 seconds) and Martin Kirkeberg Moerk (+6 seconds). Their compatriots took 10 of the top 11 places at the finish.
