Cross-country skiing : Ebba Andersson sets her sights on the World Championships
Ebba Andersson , who appeared in fine form last weekend at the opening Swedish ski races in Bruksvallarna (Sweden), will be lining up at the start of the first stage of the World Cup scheduled for this Friday in Ruka, Finland. In theindividual classic, the Swede will have her first chance to test herself against the best in her discipline.
Her first match against Therese Johaug will be closely watched. All the more so as the Scandinavian cross-country skier is feeling in the rhythm at the start of this winter. ” I’m feeling good. I was able to test myself last weekend at Bruksvallarna and I had a good feeling,” she told Fondo Italia. I’m looking forward to the individual races to test myself on an international scale too.
However, the three-time world champion will not be aiming for an overall victory this season. “That’s not my objective, but I hope to do well in the distance races. I’m not aiming for the overall classification because this year I’m 100% focused on Trondheim and the Worlds,” she confides. On the road to the world championships, I hope to have some good races, but this year I’m not looking at the overall classification. However, I’ll still be doing the Tour de Ski and I’ll be trying to prepare for it as best I can.
Ebba Andersson will therefore start her winter in her usual style before a probable break after the Tour de Ski to concentrate fully on her number one goal for the 2024/2025 season, as our Italian colleagues explain. In the meantime, the 27-year-old cross-country skier will have a chance to prove herself in the World Cup, starting this weekend on the Kuusamo hill (Finland).
