Cross-country skiing: the French miss out on the mixed relay in the Engadin
This Friday, the cross-country skiing World Cup resumes in the Engadin (Switzerland). After last weekend’s stage in Les Rousses (Jura), it’s back to Switzerland to continue the global circuit… with a mixed relay to kick off the week. A little-used format and still very new to the World Cup, it will bring together nineteen teams from fourteen countries.
The line-up includes quartets from Norway, Germany, Sweden, Finland, the United States, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Australia. France, for its part, despite having seventeen participants, has opted for a deadlock.

There are two reasons for this. Firstly, it is“a strategy for preserving patients in recovery”, explains Alexandre Rousselet, head of the World Cup group, to Nordic Magazine.
“The other is the importance of Saturday’s skate sprint for our selections for the Worlds in Trondheim,” he adds. It will in fact be the last free sprint organised before the World Championships, scheduled for February 27.
