Cross-country skiing: returns but also a lack of names in the Norwegian ranks
At the end of the week, the big cross-country skiing World Cup caravan will set off for Engadine (Switzerland) for the seventh stage of the winter season. After the madness of the French stage in Les Rousses (Jura), the world’s best cross-country skiers will be meeting up on some of the best-known tracks in the sport.

Held on a site made famous by its legendary marathon, the competitions will take place over three days, with a mixed relay on Friday, a skate sprint on Saturday and a skate mass-start on Sunday. And just a few minutes after the publication of the French selection, the names of the Norwegians selected were also revealed.
While the composition of the mixed relay team will be announced later this week, theNorwegian Ski Association has decided to take fourteen athletes in the sprint. They include Kristine Stavaas Skistad, Lotta Udnes Weng, Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs, Elena Rise Johnsen, Johanne Hauge Harviken, Ane Appelkvist Stenseth and Helene Marie Fossesholm in the women’s race.

In the men’s race, Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo will be making his comeback after missing out on the national championships and the Les Rousses stage. He will be joined by Sindre Bjoernestad Skar, Haavard Solaas Taugboel, Even Northug, Oskar Opstad Vike, Aleksander Elde Holmboe and Ansgar Evensen.
On Sunday, Astrid Oeyre Slind, Nora Sanness, Anne Kjersti Kalvaa, Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs, Karoline Simpson-Larsen, Lotta Udnes Weng and Helene Marie Fossesholm will be defending their chances. For the men, Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo, Martin Kirkeberg Moerk, Iver Tildheim Andersen, Paal Golberg, Didrik Toenseth, Andreas Fjorden Ree and Edvard Sandvik have been called up.

However,Harald Oestberg Amundsen, Therese Johaug, Heidi Weng, Erik Valnes and Martin Loewstroem Nyenget will be absent.
