Cross-country skiing: silver for Gaëtane Breniaux
At the Bakuriani 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival, French Nordic skiing is a regular silver medallist. Following second places for biathletes Juliette Oliva and Nans Madelenat, Premanonière Gaëtane Breniaux took silver this Tuesday morning in the individual 5km cross-country skiing classic.

Run in the Georgian sunshine, the race was initially dominated by Montblanc’s Anouchka Neuville, flag-bearer for the French delegation at the opening ceremony. Halfway through the race, she was in the lead. Unfortunately, she crashed out in the second lap and had to settle for fourth place.
Only beaten by Sweden’s Malva Nisen, untouchable
It was then that Gaëtane Breniaux from the French-Comtois region, fourth after 2.5km, took over and climbed up the rankings. Although she couldn’t do a thing against Sweden’s Malva Nisen, who was untouchable in the final kilometres and had already won several titles, the Jura native managed to move up to second place.

Gaëtane Breniaux took a fine silver medal , 32.0 seconds behind the winner, while Switzerland’s Nina Cantieni took bronze at 33.5 seconds, 10.4 seconds ahead of Anouchka Neuville. Lucile Coutaz was eighteenth, while Pontissalienne Pom’ Rives did not start due to illness.
