Cross-country skiing: Ebba Andersson wins again in the World Cup more than a year after her last success
It was in less ideal conditions than the day before that the 10 kilometre individual classic of the cross-country skiing world cup in Falun (Sweden), the ninth stage of the 2024/2025 season, took place this Saturday lunchtime. And the day’s favourites had a good fight on their hands.

Without an individual victory to her name since 16 December 2023 and the skiathlon in Trondheim (Norway), Ebba Andersson set out to make her mark on home soil. In a style that she loves, the Swede put in a performance that was close to her usual standards.
Always setting a good pace, the Scandinavian gradually built up a sizeable gap to secure victory in the second half of the race. With less than two weeks to go to the world championships in Trondheim (Norway), where this same event will be on the programme, the 27-year-old cross-country skier sent out a strong signal to her rivals.

Heidi Weng was neck-and-neck with the day’s winner for a long time at the start of the competition, but eventually had to settle for second place in the final. Returning to competition after a period of preparation at home, the Norwegian also proved that she was back in form at the best of times.

Equally at ease in the classics, Victoria Carl managed to claim a podium finish on the day. It’s the seventh time this season that the German has finished in the top three in a race on the circuit. A few seconds behind her, Jessie Diggins continued to pick up precious points to keep her yellow bib as overall leader by finishing fourth.
Flora Dolci very close to the top 20
Although it wasn’ t certain that they would line up in this individual classic, France’s Flora Dolci and Léna Quintin nevertheless took to the start line on Saturday morning. The best of them was the Haut-Alpine, who finished in twenty-second place, just 6 seconds behind the top 20.

For her part, La Bornandine battled hard to claw back a few places and finish in the top forty. In the end, the Haut-Savoyard rider finished in thirty-ninth place.
