Cross-country skiing: Edvin Anger’s risky home tactics
This Friday saw the start of the cross-country skiing world cup in Falun (Sweden) with a classic sprint won by Johannes Hoesflot Kleebo. During this event, local star Edvin Anger was knocked out in the semi-finals after taking the lead from the start of the race. A strategy that got people talking.

” He needs to change something about his tactics. I don’t understand why he did it,” Even Northug told NRK. Fredrik Aukland, consultant for the Norwegian channel, agrees: “ You have four Norwegians behind you and you choose to take the lead on the descent. It’s a strange move .
Edvin Anger has been ambitious of late, not hesitating to challenge Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo. This Thursday, he once again showed his appetite at a press conference. “He [Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo] is the favourite, but I know that if there’s anyone who can beat him, it’s me. I don’t think I’m the one Klæbo fears the most,” added the tall Swede.

At the end of this semi-final, which proved fatal for him, Edvin Anger explained his position. “To beat Klæbo, he has to have a bad day. But if he has a good day, he’s the clear favourite ,” he admits.
For his part, Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo islooking forward to 27 February, the date of the skate sprint at the world championships in Trondheim (Norway). “We’ll see. It’ll be exciting. He’s got 13 days left and he has to keep going,” concluded the Norwegian mischievously at the NRK microphone.
