Cross-country skiing : the perfect day for Linn Svahn at home
The final stages of the classic sprint of the cross-country skiing world cup in Falun (Sweden) took place in glorious sunshine on Friday lunchtime. In optimal conditions, the day’s race was a particular success for Linn Svahn.

Having been absent from the start of the season due to a number of illnesses, the Swede arrived at this ninth stage of the season without any real points of reference. But from the morning qualifying, the Scandinavian quickly showed that she was in good form.
After winning the prologue in style, the 25-year-old cross-country skier went on to win the quarters and then the semi-finals. Impressive in the bumps on the course, she reminded us just how much she excelled in sprinting last winter. At the finish line, the young woman could celebrate and raise her arms as she crossed the line with a margin of almost a second to claim her first success on the circuit since 1 March.

Behind her, Nadine Faehndrich also made a strong impression. A regular on the podium since November, the Swiss rider was in contact on every lap of the day. In the final, she even resisted the powerful comeback of Norway’s Kristine Stavaas Skistad, who finished third.

Maja Dahlqvist, Jasmi Joensuu and Johanna Hagstroem rounded off the top 6 in a final in which each of the participants looked capable of winning. In the French clan, however, Léna Quintin didn’t make it past the semi-finals. She put in a solid performance in the quarter-finals, but was not selected as the lucky loser.
