Just a few minutes after the women’s qualifier , in which Linn Svahn came out on top, it was the turn of the cross-country skiers to make their mark for the first time in the classic sprint of the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup in Falun (Sweden) on Friday morning.

Back on the circuit after missing out on the Cogne (Italy) stage, Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo didn’t waver. The Norwegian used his power in the second part of the course to make the difference and win this first round ahead of his compatriot Erik Valnes. Sweden’s Edvin Anger was still in the running, finishing in the top 3 ahead of the surprising Czech Jiri Tuz.

For the French team, three of the five athletes entered at the start of the competition secured their ticket for the quarter-finals. The best of them was Jules Chappaz, who finished a very good eighth. Lucas Chanavat finished eighteenth, while Rémi Boudin was twenty-fifth. However, Gaspard Rousset’s adventure came to an end at this stage, as he finished forty-fifth in his first race at this level. Théo Schely followed close behind in forty-sixth place.
