Cross-country skiing: victory for Ivan Essonnier
At the start of the classic sprint finals at the FESA Cup cross-country skiing event in Oberwiesenthal (Germany) on Saturday afternoon, there were only three French competitors. While Gaspard Rousset had to give up in the semi-finals and Julien Arnaud had to settle for fourth place in the final, Ivan Essonnier from Savoie did much better.

Winner of his quarter and then second in his half, the cross-country skier from Club des sports de La Féclaz pulled off the perfect coup in the final, beating Czech Matyas Bauer and Italian Simone Mocellini to the line.

For the Féclazien, it was his second victory in the FESA Cup, his first in the senior category.
