Following on from the individual U18 skate race over 10 kilometres, the U16 cross-country skiers followed in the footsteps of their counterparts at the FESA Cross-Country Skiing Games in Planica (Slovenia) this Saturday lunchtime. On a course 7.5 kilometres long, one Frenchman came out on top.

Gaby Thomas was in the game as the hectometres went by, finishing strongly to make up valuable positions. A strong rider, the Jurassien crossed the finish line in third place behind Germany’s Oskar Metzger and Switzerland’s Fabio Ruethemann. A first-ever international podium for the big man on the national U16 circuit.

Behind him, his Haute-Alpes team-mate Solal Jonnard also did well, finishing a good eighth just over 47 seconds from the winner. Auvergne rider Alex Laroche was fifteenth, while Raphaël Marrel from Haut-Savoy was eighteenth in the top 20.
