Cross-country skiing: Léonie Perry, in the seniors, and Margot Tirloy, in the U20s, were the strongest
Late on Wednesday morning, the first head-to-head matches of the 2024/2025 French Cross-Country Skiing Cup were due to take place. Unfortunately, a technical problem with the timing software forced the organisers in Bessans (Savoie) to cancel the U16 and women’s finals and hold a second qualifying round.
A few hours after the first, the many cross-country skiers in contention took to the 1.1 km track for a second solo run, with the final rankings adding up the places from the two legs.
In this context, in the senior category, Léonie Perry from Vosges, who had already won at the start of the day, confirmed her superiority and won brilliantly. Clémence Didierlaurent and Julie Pierrel, twice her runners-up in that order, completed the day’s podium. In the U20 category, Margot Tirloy, winner of both heats, won without any possible dispute.
In the U18s, it was Savoie biathlete Adeline Debuyser, second and then first, who took victory ahead of Lucile Coutaz and Anouchka Neuville. In the U16 category, Lison Brouart was the women’s winner of the day with two victories, while Raphaël Marrel did the same for the men.
