Cross-country skiing: Finland strengthens its position in the Engadine
The cross-country skiing World Cup resumes this Friday in Engadin, Switzerland. It’s an opportunity for Finland’s Krista Pärmäkoski, last seen in action at the Tour de Ski, to make her comeback. She will be competing in the skate mass-start on Sunday. On her Instagram account, she is cautious about her state of fitness, having recently come down with flu: “I’m still recovering, so I won’t be taking part in the mixed relay”, she writes.

It’s a hard blow for the 34-year-old skier, but she tries to put things into perspective. It’s annoying and sad, but in top-level sport, there’s no middle ground: either you’re healthy or you’re ill,” she admits. The only option left is to accept it, and stay on the sidelines until it heals.
His compatriot Remi Lindholm is also returning to competition. After a month and a half away from the circuit, where he was ill for a long time, the 27-year-old cross-country skier will be lining up for the mixed relay from this Friday afternoon.

Alongside Krista Pärmäkoski, Jasmi Joensuu, Jasmin Kähärä, Katri Lylynperä, Hilla Niemelä, Kerttu Niskanen and Tiia Olkkonen will be taking part in the women’s event, while Emil Liekari, Wiljam Mattila, Joni Mäki, Iivo Niskanen, Eero Rantala, Verneri Suhonen, Markus Vuorela and Lauri Vuorinen will be making the trip for the men.
