Over the last few days, many members of the management of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) have been meeting in Geneva (Switzerland) to take part in the 56th Congress of the international body. Of course, cross-country skiing was also on the agenda.
Prize money has sometimes been a thorny issue in recent seasons, and has been the subject of lengthy discussion. However, aware of the economic stakes for the athletes, the FIS has revealed that the rewards will be increased by at least 10% for the 2025/2026 financial year. And it is not impossible that this increase could reach 20% if all the parties manage to reach an agreement.

“It is clear that we still have a long way to go to pay our athletes what they are worth. This is an important step, but one more on a long road ahead,” said Johan Eliasch, chairman of the body, in a press release.
