Cross-country skiing: the Swiss try to spoil the party in Trondheim
On 26 February, the world cross-country skiing championships in Trondheim (Norway) kick off in front of a capacity crowd. And while Norway and Sweden have already revealed their selections to defend their colours, Switzerland revealed the fourteen names of the cross-country skiers and cross-country skiers selected late on Monday afternoon.
In the women’s race, Nadine Faehndrich will lead a group of five athletes. Second last weekend in Cogne (Italy) in the classic sprint, the Swiss woman will be joined in Scandinavia by Marina Kaelin, Nadja Kaelin, Alina Meier and Anja Weber.
On the men’s side, a contingent of nine cross-country skiers will line up at the start of the Norwegian races. Valerio Grond and Janik Riebli will lead the sprinters, while Beda Klee and Cyril Faehndrich will do the same for the distance runners. Other competitors include Roman Alder, Jonas Baumann, Noe Naeff, Candide Pralong and Jason Rueesch.
