The French cross-country skiing team has definitely not been spared from withdrawals in this nineteenth edition of the Tour de Ski. Following the withdrawals of Flora Dolci, Sabin Coupat, Julie Pierrel and Lucas Chanavat, it is now the turn of Léonie Perry, Jules Lapierre and Théo Schely to put their foot down before the first races in Val di Fiemme (Italy).

“Léonie was already unwell on Thursday and is bothered by stomach pains, but it’s not contagious. Jules has had a runny nose for a few days now and it’s spread to his throat in the last few hours, so he’s not going to continue so as not to make things worse. Théo was fine yesterday but unfortunately he had a bad night and doesn’t feel up to racing,” Alexandre Rousselet told Nordic Magazine.

“It’s hard for us, but we have four athletes in the top 20 in the men’s overall rankings and we’re hoping to claim podium places in the next three races. We’re remaining optimistic and we’re not the only ones affected,” he added. All the other nations are too, even if everyone is constantly on their guard.
