Cross-country skiing: Montblanc U16s win a double
In the sunshine of Les Saisies (Savoie) on Sunday morning, the women’s U16 mass-start classic of the French cross-country skiing championships was a matter for the Haut-Savoyard women. In this 5km race, Louna Remillon and Lison Brouart, both members of the Glières club, took the lead at the head of the race.
Quickly separated from the rest of the pack, they tackled the second 2.5km lap together. It was then that Louna Remillon took the decisive lead to secure victory and the gold medal of French champion.
“It was so good, the conditions were great! For me, it’s a great last race which means I can finish the season on a high. I’m just delighted,” she told Nordic Magazine afterwards.
Lison Brouart struggled at the end of the race, but nevertheless retained the silver medal and went on to win the overall U16 French Cup. Méaudra’s Anja Vittoz took bronze ahead of Loane Couloumy, Clémence Coutaz, Chloé Mossuz, Margaux Porret, Lou Rives, Capucine Troussier and Janie Picard, the final member of the top 10.
